Frequently Asked Questions
About the KPA...

KPA was incorporated on June 16, 1977 as a non-profit association under the name of The Kansas Legal Assistants Society. In 1996 the organization changed its name to Kansas Paralegal Association. The KPA is a professional association which offers membership to paralegals/legal assistants, students, paralegal educators, and institutions with an interest in supporting the purposes of the organization.

KPA Events...

The KPA is divided into three districts across the State of Kansas.  Throughout the year, each district hosts a variety of events including monthly luncheons, mini-seminars, pro bono and community service events, and PACE study group sessions.

The KPA's state-wide Annual Seminar is held each June.  This is a one day event which is held in a different location throughout the State of Kansas each year.  The Annual Seminar provides CLE credit to members and non-members through its four sessions of CLE presentations.  There are two morning sessions and two afternoon sessions, each with the attendee's choice of speakers on separate topics.

A catered lunch is also served, generally with a guest speaker for the luncheon.  Annual awards are presented at this luncheon including the PACE and PCCE scholarships, the Excellence Award, and the upcoming Board of Directors are inducted.

The Annual seminar is not only a great way to obtain CLE credit, but a great opportunity to network with other paralegals/legal assistants and vendors for the legal community.  The KPA invites a variety of vendors for exhibitor booths at the Annual Seminar ranging from court reporters to document management service providers, and everything in-between.
