SPEAKER BIO: 

Jerry Bell came to the legal profession after a career of developing successful technology businesses. A native of central Missouri, he began his career in Kansas City in 1983. He enjoyed an extended stay in Atlanta for ten years and returned to Kansas City in the late 1990s. After helping build two successful software companies in Austin, Texas, he entered the practice of law on a full-time basis with a focus on estate & business planning, elder law and planning for special needs clients. At The Bell Law Firm he combined his legal background with his zeal to help others preserve their hard-earned family assets. In October, 2021, Jerry combined his law firm with Creative Planning-Legal, P.A., a separate subsidiary of Creative Planning, a leading independent RIA.

Jerry has a passion for helping clients understand estate and business planning strategies, ensuring clients have the opportunity to safeguard their wealth and helping families pass their legacy to the next generation. In his law practice, Jerry assists clients to develop lifetime plans for business, financial and estate needs. He firmly believes in carefully listening to client objectives, and then he can advise clients how to build plans to match their goals.

Jerry is a member of the Missouri and Kansas Bar Associations. Creative Planning-Legal is a member of WealthCounsel, LLC and ElderCounsel, LLC. Additionally, Jerry is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and The Academy of Special Needs Planners (ASNP). Along with his legal experience, he has previous experience as a licensed securities professional. He combines his broad business experiences with his legal and financial knowledge to create plans, and effectively communicate them to clients in a friendly style.

Jerry received his Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University in 1997. Prior to completing his legal studies, he received a Masters of Business Administration-Finance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and his undergraduate degree in Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Jerry lives in Overland Park with his wife, Debbie, and they have three grown children. He previously coached youth teams as his kids' grew up, but now has graduated to being a fan of youth and college sports. He serves on his local homeowners board and supports Christian ministries.
